DEALING WITH DEATH |

How do we cope with the death of a loved one? Today, we lost my sister-in-law, Paula Dufresne, after a courageous battle with breast cancer. Paula was my brother Lucien's wife. I co-dedicated my book to Lucien and my husband, Joe. Both Paula and Lucien were towers of strength. Everyone around them was amazed at how well they handled her ordeal. They never asked, "Why me?" Paula accepted her diagnosis, but never gave in to it. She fought hard to recover. She passed away surrounded by her loving family. Near the end, in the middle of the night, she showed her strength by rising up and announcing that she was going to be with the Lord Jesus Christ and proclaiming her love for her family. She was ready to leave her family and meet her Savior. She wanted to witness her faith to others and believed that her suffering was a means by which others would come to Christ. If only we could all accept death as peacefully as Paula did. |
