The President of the United States, George W. Bush, has proclaimed March 2008 as Women's History Month. In his March 10th Proclamation he wrote "...we celebrate the courage, foresight, and resolve of women who have strengthened our democracy..."
A woman does not have to be famous to strengthen our democracy. Mothers, sisters, aunts, friends and neighbors can all help strengthen our democracy in the little things they do every day. Mothers who raise law-abiding children into strong adults who are willing to serve their community and country meet that definition. A supportive friend or neighbor who does what she can to encourage and support those in the military meets that definition.
Women from all walks of life are to be celebrated for their “courage, foresight, and resolve” to strengthen our democracy.
